The Lutheran Wiktionary

Welcome to Lutheran Wiktionary, a site where we define some of those esoteric words that are used by Lutheran Pastors and others who attempt to communicate theologically with others.

The project came about because some of the articles on the BJS site are getting technical enough that some words may not be understood by our readers. We looked around and decided that there was no central location where lutheran terms could be defined, so .. we created this website!

This site is an attempt to come up with a centralized "definition" of those terms that we use in lutheranism — people may not know exactly what the words actually mean, OR it may be in the denomination they grew up with they used the same term but assigned a different meaning to it.

We started out this site as a simple wiki, as it is a way that we can have multiple authors defining words in a faily simple manner. As we add words to it, we plan to grow the site to meet the demand, so it may change over time as its usage grows.

For now, while we have only a few words defined, select one of the words from the list at the left. We hope to greatly expand this site over the next few months; please contact us to either suggest words that we should define, or volunteer to help us create this website!
